Wipers nodding off

Hi all,
coming down the motorway this morning had a bit of a scare. Wipers on auto, working fine, wiping every 10 secs or so, then suddenly they didn't wipe when I expected. I waited as long as I could, then hit the single wipe on the end of the stick. Nothing. Turned the handle to manual and for a second or so, still nothing - quite scary at 70 in the rain! Then it wiped and it's been fine again since. Never had a problem on the W210 so I'm well used to the system. Anyone know of a glitch on the W211?

Nothing shown on my system, Could be a thermal cut out on one of the relays, as you say a little scary.

This is exactly the symptoms my wipers are displaying on my 2003 E320. Any more experiences since this original problem was posted that have uncovered the cause?
