Hi

I wonder if someone could point my in the right direction, please.

I have a 2005 220 CDi and a relation has a 2001 220 CDi and who has purchased, from a MB dealer, the workshop oil stick as neither car has its own dipstick.

This tool has graduated measurements on in millimetres at the bottom and the top of the stick.

Can someone explain what mark (in mm) the oil should reach when it has its full capacity of 6.5 litres in the engine.

We did ask at the supplying dealer who were not particularly forthcoming and neither were MB at HQ, who refused to let me speak to someone with technical knowledge.

Thanks in advance.

Older Citroen Now :-(
Nice question..
I asked the same in order to make a dipstick along the lines of the one used for ATF fluid meaurement..
It cannot be rocket science to measure the distance from the end to put the marks on a home made dipstick.
Within the next 2 weeks I shall be changing my oil and I shall post my own measurements..

Good look with your search for an answer... I am still witing for mine !

Hi

Its for the engine.

He also bought the dipstick for the auto transmission and was told how to use this. He's checked the fluid in the box and it was fine.

I used to the engine oil stick and measured the oil at about 150mm. My relation did the same and measured 135mm.

You need to take care here, some cars used the 646 engine and others the 611

I have a 2005 220CDi (646 engine) & according to WIS the oil level is correct between 162mm & 164mm.

I thought all 646 engines of this age in the UK had them?
I imagine the engine vibrations would be felt through the whole car if they were not there?

They are twin shafts that rotate in opposite directions at twice the engine revs & cancel engine vibration. Invented by Lanchester (Malcolm had one, that's how old they are ) & made to work by Mitsubishi many years later when bearing technology improved. Used by Porsche & many others under licence from Mitsubishi.
