Yeah, just pop down to woolworths, they have 'em real cheap at the moment.

Seriously though, unless you have a particular reason to spend far more on your car than its worth then why bother... just go buy something else.

Just my 2p worth.

I can't really tell you whether you should or not, but if you do decide to go for forced induction, then go the supercharger route and not the turbo. Make sure you fit an intercooler too. You should get 50% more power.

The supercharger will deliver more power from the word "go", as opposed to a turbo charger that needs to spin up first.

Vortec has a supercharger that is very quiet (V2 I think) and there are electric superchargers out there that is not belt driven from the engine. They have the added benefit of being switched off when not accelerating, thus saving fuel on constant speed drives.

Superchargers does not need a cooling off idling period as most aftermarket turbo's do.

Etc. etc. etc.

If you do install something like this, make sure the gearbox, pistons etc can take it. Rather do a rebuild of the engine while fitting the supercharger.

my 2 pennies......
it isn't just as easy as just slapping a turbo/super kit on there.
You have to realize that the rest of the car wasn't engineered to handle that extra power, so you might give yourself other massize problems (such as tranny, suspension, gaskets, and bascially everything else that is involved with how the power is produced, to how it is transfered to the wheels)
- if you really want more power, buy something else!!! (i heard the new sl55AMG are pretty fast  ) but seriuosly you might wind up spending much more then just the price of the turbo/super kit....

....just my thought  ....

I agree that this isn't always the wizest thing to do, but some people just can't help themselves

Yes, the electric supercharger is kind of like a hair dryer :)

It runs off the battery and not directly from the engine. This way there is no clutch that needs to be engaged when the super charger is needed.

I have a E class Kompressor which has an intercooled Supercharger, I can feel the torqe provided by the charger from 700rpm through to 6000rpm. I would go as far to say that it feels more torqy that my Range Rover 4.6 HSE!
