Hi everyone, just had my mirror ripped off by an idiot in a corsa, i had the right of way and he just pulled out and hit me, didn't bother to stop, but i turned round and managed to catch him at the lights, he has admitted liability and has vowed to pay for the damage, but his excuse " I was late for football practice"
My question is how much will it cost to replace the mirror, (C180 classic 1997) it has knocked the cover from the clips so it is flopping all over, and it has broken the mirror glass, this is dangling on a wire, nothing seems to respond to the electronic adjuster, or the folding electronic mirror.
Does anyone know what is involved or the cost?
All help much appreciated.
Regards Geoff.:(

Thanks for that Malcolm, I just makes me so mad that they don't even have the courtesy to stop and say sorry, It could have been more serious, and thank god it wasn't, they have a basic disrespect for everything.
Regards geoff.

Hello,

Did you get his reg plate and details? inform the police? as when you tell him its £200 plus he could say it wasn't him?

was his car damaged?

Mobile phones are handy in this situation for a quick few pictures (sorry bit late now I guess)

Hope you get it sorted.

Hi everyone. Thanks for all your help on this one, I managed to fit everything back together, and with a new mirror glass, everything seems ok, all the electrics seem to have reset themselves up ok, the outer arm folds ok and the glass adjusts ok, a little rubbing compound and polish and all looks like new.
I told the guy he could either pay for a new assembly @ £97.50 or it could go into the dealers to be sorted @ approx £240.00 he opted for the cheaper version and has so far coughed up £60.00 cash. with a promise of the rest after Christmas.
If the guy had stopped and apologised, i would have left it at that, but seeing as he took off and was really awkward about it when i cought up with him, i will take his cash, it might teach him a lesson, it may not!
Best wishes to all members. Regards Geoff.

When someone knocked the mirror on my Saab, I went back in daylight and found all of the gears and bits, put it back together with a new glass and it was fine

Hi Malcolm, I am really amazed that it all went back together as it did, it really shows the build quality was good, it's a wonder it didnt come through the window, the force totally innialated the other guys mirror, i thing it was only the fact that it struck the top edge of the door pannel which saved the window, anyway all's well that ends well. I hope you have a wonderfull festive time.
Regards Geoff.

Thank you Geoff, and all the best to you:D
