Hi All,

I am thinking of fitting either 6000kl xenon bulbs to me W203 C220 coupe or fitting HID kits, I am not sure which one looks better, at the moment my current yellow halogen bulbs aren’t sufficient, I don’t see very clearly at night and I don’t want to have to switch on the full beam all the time as I often think it dazzles people and often annoying, also I notice some people switch on their fogs etc even when conditions are not hazardous, again I don’t want to fall into that category.

Can someone either recommend where I can get 6000 – 8000kK xenon bulbs or good HID kits that look really nice with the lights.

Thanks in Advance.

C 2220 Coupe

Main and Dipped beam both use H7, fog lights HB5, Side lights w5w 501 side lights.

Any recommendations would be really appreciated.

I found HiD's great in my old Omega - i retro fitted them using a kit from ebay...

ilegaly a grey area but immense improvent on light :) - I would do the same with my E-Class but I dont have projector type lenses on the merc so I stuck with a set of 80w blubs from halfords, there much better than stock but not a patch on HiD

this will pull up a xenon HID kit, can't recommend them but its a starting point. You have a choice of three colours/brightness (4300-8000). Bear in mind its a bulb replacement/conversion kit, which will never be as good as headlamps designed for xenons. If the w203 had a standard xenon headaight, them these would be worth tracking down - via ebay?

I was pondering over the HID upgrade kits too. But then you have to buy a resistor kit to stop the OBD showing up a fault and eventually I gave up on the idea.
Stupidly, I bought the new OSRAM night breaker headlamp bulbs, believing the '90%' more light quote. Make that 10% at best. money wasted.
If anyone has fitted a aftermarket HID kit, any advise would be most welcome :)

Cheers

I have fitted one to my Motorcycle and wouldnt use anything else now, the difference in light is unbelievable. But i have no knowledge of what a kit would do on a MB, possibly cause all sorts of problems, i simply dont know. If anyone has done it i would be interested. You can buy a kit on ebay for £35-£40 and they are an easy fitment, no wire cutting or jointing to do:)

I had a "Stage 3 HID Xenon high performance headlamp conversion" fitted to my W 220 in January this year (dipped and main beams). Cheaper and better luminance than specifying xenons as an extra on a new car. Transformed the night visibility but does not upset oncoming drivers. Recently cruised though the MOT. (the W220 has headlamp washers but no levellers - perhaps pneumatic suspension offsets that though?).

Highly recommended.

Suppliers were snoopershop.com aka satnavshop.com in Birmingham (0121 773 7000). ;):):D
