Well after changing my side lights and festoon lights for LED's i've noticed that my xenon head lamps are just not as bright as i though they were. The car being 8 years old now and they haven't been changed before it would seem natural that they dim a bit.

My question is, does anyone know how to replace them or anything i can do to get them looking brighter?

2005 CL500.
You can replace them with ones that look brighter, bluer, with a higher temp. The standard ones are 4300k, some go for 5000k or 6000k. Ironically, although they will look brighter, as the temp rises they give less light output.

It could be that you could replace your lamps and the new stans=dard one will be fine for what you are wanting to achieve.

They are easy to replace (if your hands aren't too big).

Ignition off, key out.

Pull off the ignitor...twist to remove the lamp.

Apparently they degrade over time. I've just fitted a pair to mine as i assumed mine were 10 years old - seems better but I had replaced the headlamps at the same time so not really a like-for-like comparison

i'm wanting to achieve a better light output for these early morning starts, so from your comment i would probably be best going for a standard set?

I fitted 5000k ones, they are a touch more blue/white but are defo brighter than the old one, probably ~6yrs old.

Sill not a sharp white as the newer MB models though...
