My 220d AMG Line (2017) has a yellow engine warning light showing. The car was serviced two weeks ago by my local main dealer during which time a NOX update was carried out. The car accelerates perfectly so I’m assuming the problem is to do with a faulty sensor maybe prompted by the software update? The car is schedule to go back on the 4th March for its first MOT do I need to do anything before then? The dealership say it’s ok till then.

Incidentally as part of the service the car was given an Addblue top up of 12 litres (27 litre capacity) before the service the car had a range of 9000 miles plus it now shows 7000 miles??? I assume this may be a software issue?

It really needs to have codes read to understand why the light has come on.
Personally I'd get the car looked at sooner rather than later as the DPF won't regen if it has a fault light on and that could create a world of pain.

An Engine Management Light on is now an MOT fail so they will need to fix that prior to the MOT

I was advised by the dealer that if the light flash’s or turns to red that I should call roadside assist. Do you feel the dealer is abdicating responsibility?
I have an extended warranty on the car.

Let me put it another way...
If you leave it it may cause further issues (DPF regens for example).
If you get it sorted it won't.
You have a warranty so what do you have to lose?

Also just fact the light has come on days the engine has detected a fault condition so will not be operating as designed.
I've never heard of an engine management light changing colour although if you have an LCD instrument display it's possible I guess. ....

Is it not still under the 3 year warranty?

Whatever, I'd be taking it straight back to get it fixed

After a lot of arguing with the dealership the car is booked in tomorrow so hopefully it will be resolved. I’m assuming the replacement sensor is covered under the warranty?

My 2014 S350 went in for the software recall and when it came out the yellow EML was on and in limp mode, they had the car for a week fitted a dpf sensor and a regen £530 please sir, now the car is running fine but mpg is down by 10 and it seems to be running in lower gears all the time

My C220d also popped on an EML immediately following a service and EM Update. It turned out to be a NOx sensor which is what I suspected and I suspect is probably your problem too.

As far as AdBlu is concerned, mine also now shows 7k miles following the update and I don't think it is a secret that it will use more AdBlu now...as well as diesel, all in the name of reducing emissions.

This is disgraceful and I assume lots of other owners have experienced the same problem. I wasn’t advised about the update till I was handed the service report.
I previously drive an Audi 2.0 tdi and the car was never the same after they updated the software when their scandal was exposed.

My Mercedes 220d as explained had a service two weeks ago complete with EM software update. This caused an oxygen sensor to fail which the dealer has now replaced.
The Addblue tank before going in for service had a circa 9000 miles range and was topped up with twelve litres the range now shows 7000 miles.
The explanation according to the dealership is that the software prior to service was incorrect and the update has now corrected the Addblue consumption. I’ve heard some tall tales in my time but this ranks amongst the best. I’d really appreciate any advice regarding this from current owners.

I wonder with the software update more adblue is used therefore the range remaining is now reduced because of the increased dosage.

This is certainly the case I’m sure of that but it now commits the owners who have this update to increased motoring costs.
I’m lucky to still have a warranty on my car but anybody without a current warranty would have the cost of a new sensor to stump up for. I’ve read on a number of sites that owners have had sensor issues since their cars have had this update.
Well done Mercedes for passing on your emissions problems!

VeeDub owners have had loads of issues since the software “updates” from the very large thread on this forum it appears decreased fuel economy and high as blue usage is a direct result of the Mercedes “update”
