..bad day at work. whilst replacing a fuel gauge on a wonderful w113, i broke the glass . oh dear, sls did not list one, just the bezel at something like £100 .
this did not make me happy, had the same effect on the boss too, unsurprisingly. a quick google last night revealed no source of spares and no how to guides, i slept only fitfully, plagued by dreams of enraged chrome huggers (classics enthusiasts). this morning i had a look at getting the oh so delicate bezel off, and bingo! it turned out to be fairly easy :smile:. take the broken piece of glass to the glazing place next door and within 20 minutes they had fashioned a new one from scratch for - wait for it - £6 . it fits a treat and the bezel looks like new . so today was a good day at work
....untill i had a go at that glow plug, all the usual failed, including drilling out the threaded portion to 8.5mm and tapping the center, actually broke the slide hammer . mind you, tomorrow is another day...
