2019 A180d - W177 with 1,461cc OM608 engine

Just covered 9,000 miles and AdBlue system advises it can’t read the AdBlue level, this gives a 500 mile range before switching to reduced performance operation. Mobilo have been out and can’t reset it, plenty of AdBlue in the tank, so it’s booked in on Wednesday.

I’m expecting the main dealer to advise they’ve never seen this issue before…

Software update? Sensor replacement? Pump failed? What’s the forum’s ideas?

None that I know of as I wasn’t present when they attended. Yellow engine warning light on permanent and the AdBlue warning comes up once you’ve driven a few miles.
I‘ll try to find out what the dealer finds on Wednesday

Good lord. What a disaster these ad blue systems.
The majority of posts are always replacing the entire tank as the senders are part of the tank.
That said, thats on slightly older cars, so no jumping the gun till the codes are read and you have been in atleast 3 times in the next month to get it all sorted.
Glad you are still in warranty...(assuming)

After nearly 4 years decided to sell my 2014 e350 bluetec due to all this nonsense and luckily had a fast easy sale last week, petrol next and time to relax and stop worrying about adblue, pumps methinks. good luck.

The only problem is that the few S213 petrol cars available with larger engines E43/53 are holding their residual value due to high demand - guess I’ll be waiting a while longer

Monday and Tuesday this week, no yellow engine warning light... Probably because it knew it was going to the garage...

The car has stayed in overnight as they need to get a replacement metering valve for the AdBlue - more updates as they're available ;)

Not great that this is the second time in a short period. Suggests a fundamental issue somewhere in the design.

Agreed, it only has 9K miles on… I suspect that the AdBlue has crystallised due to sitting around as I expect it’s on its original fill…

My friends V8 4.4 Range Rover has just gone into reduced performance mode… “emissions system heater failure” - which is the AdBlue… another sensor is reporting as faulty as well.

How long before someone manages to hack it out of the software and switch it back on for the MOT?

Thing is they'll work perfectly well without the AdBlue system... problem is that's slightly worse than a hanging offence...

Guess what - it's back at Mercedes with the engine warning light on and an AdBlue System fault -Well, mark me surprised (not)...

MB now saying they've changed everything and no idea what's wrong so have contacted MB Technical for a fix...

I wonder if there are any sensors in the AdBlue systems that would detect tap water if it were used in the tank in place of the AdBlue fluid that should be used, as it appears that apart from mechanical failure, the crystallisation of the AdBlue product is a common cause of failure?
