The s320 I have acquired is filthy and the buttons on the steering wheel are all sticky. Hot water is not removing this. Any ideas please. I really don't want to use anything that might damage them .thank you in advance

I think it is the top layer finish on those buttons that decomposes and leaves that dirty looking sticky finish. Scrape it off carefully, might even come off with your finger nail, and it should be OK underneath.

Good luck,

Tony

As it is human grease use warm water with washing up liquid and as said the buttons just build up with grease, lighter fuel also works well with no damage

Yep, amazing things, clean just about anything off anything, don't understand how they can be safe for kids skin!

Most surprising use I've found is wiping off excess silicon if caulking your bathroom etc. but use them all the time for cleaning computer equipment and the like, filthy keyboards come up spotless.

Be sure not to get ones that contain baby lotion as that does leave a residue, best i've found are supermarket own brand kid's bum wipes.

Couldn't agree more, they are great for cleaning leather as well

I had the sticky button problem on my CL500. It was more than just oil or grease from a human hand. It was the coating on the plastic that was failing.

I used cotton buds dipped in a solution of water and meths to gently remove the sticky stuff. I then coated the buttons with some ordinary multi-purpose spray polish (for furniture, etc) that I sprayed onto a cloth and wiped the buttons with. So far it has worked fine.

Be careful with the meths though. Use too much and it will remove some or all of the covering to reveal the white plastic underneath which provides the illumination for the symbols on the buttons.
