After a couple of months, you’ve caught the bug for which there is no known cure - other than many more long road trips! Have fun and may it last a long while.

The e class is certainly a place to effortlessly pass the miles in, I went to Luton and back in Thursday and averaged 48mpg, massage function was on and I felt no less tired than when I had left.

It's a great shame that MB can do this well on one hand but on the other they kick a customer right in the technicals with a lack of genuine support and ridiculous costing of £13000 for a replacement hybrid battery (recent posting). Like you guys, I love my 2007 C Class even though it's now getting old in the tooth but it still drives like a new car etc having recently passed 100K. If I was to consider a change I'd probably look at an E Class... nearly did last year until SWMBO pointed out that I was looking at change for the sake of change. Basically she was right - improved mpg was rather a lame excuse!
