A little lady in Sweden bought an A140 with 40k miles on the clock.
June 2002 the fan in the heater packed up......... ................
March 2003 Rear suspension arms failed................................
July 2003 fuel gauge stopped..........................................
December 2003 the Jack points broke......................................
January 2004 temperture guage stopped.................................
Febuary 2004 timimg cover oil leak..........................................
April 2004 Ignition lock stopped........................................
May 2004 gearbox problems..............................................
May 2004 Both front springs broke....................................
August 2004 Brakes stuck on................................................
November 2004 Gear selector broke..........................................
August 2005 whole ignition system replaced..............................
September 2005 Rear callipers came off.....................................

She took the dealer to county court and said to the judge, "I really do not think that it is right that my car has to be repaired every month" The judge agreed and awarded her £2000 compensation.

I wrote a similar list to Merc too. Advised them that if they did not settle I would also go legal with it. Took a while to make them realise that while a warranty has a defined life the requirement for the car to be fit for purpose was not the same length as the warranty. I also think they thought they would be able to convince a judge that 4,000 miles was acceptable for exhaust systems too.

Good on the lady for kicking up, more of us should be doing it too.

Hi Malcolm

Do you know if she kept the Merc'?

After that catalogue of trouble it's likely that her enthusiasm for the model wained quickly.

REGARDS Phil

Just an update on this one, her gearbox packed up, and she has bought a second one from a breaker for 20,000kr (£1400). Such is life.
