It always surprised me how few Merc owners spend time on the star on the bonnet. I washed and polished the car today and as always I spent a few minutes with the Autosol. Even in my last car (rusting W210), a few minutes on the star made all the difference.

Go on - you know it makes sense. Take a wee click on the thumbnail.

It sounds silly, but that bonnet star is one of my absolute favourite things about Mercs. Gives me an enormous amount of satisfaction to see that star bobbing up and down in front of me when i'm behind the wheel ;)

Silly and sad yes, but me too!
I'm always surprised to see mercs running around, nice, polished and shiny with a mucky black bonnet star. getting a bit of chrome polish on it takes 2 mins and make all the difference.

The last time I polished the bonnet star a Genie popup, my first reaction was to shout SNOWMAN, I don't know why but this is what happened.

Agree with all, a matter of extreme satisfaction and pride despite all the issues we have and read about, oh yes I also like to 'polish' the 'boot' (Trunk for our American friends) star and the model designation - just puts the shine on the car so to speak:cool:

I'd rather it stayed securely in place.

I was polishing my bonnet star last weekend and my wife said I was over doing it a bit but it seams I'm not the only one who likes it to be as shiney as the rest of the car. I too like to shine the rear star and model numbers as most people driving other makes of car normally only see this end.:D
