I've driven various expensive cars with 30 and 35 aspect tyres wheels and i wouldn't use them meself, feel every bump and car becomes skittish in wet imo.

With the state of our roads i really wouldn't go any lower than 45 aspect at the most and would ideally like to run 50 to 65, though that takes some finding with nice wheels.

The wheels look nice in the box, how they'll look fitted i don't know, presumably the second link shows a pic but it don't work for me.

As for tyres, the ones at that price will be carp...the seller wants an extra £100 to upgrade to Avon ZZ3's which are quite cheap anyway...though an underrated tyre IMO.

The wheels look like they are diamond cut and laquered on the faces of the spokes, remember these finishes are not durable and any tiny pin prick will let water in and will corrode the alloy underneath, quite apart from 30 aspect tyres will give no prtection to the wheel whatsover.

Bet you didn't want to hear all that, sorry but it's my honest opinion, if i were looking for wheels i'd be hoping to find a genuine set needing refurb, best of both worlds then as proper baked refurbs are very durable.

The main thing is that those wheels are not hub centric and the chances are you would never balance them

Ok boys you've said enough to put me off. I would like to find something nice to replace the 16" originals that are badly blistering. I've looked at so many now it would be nice to have something a bit different, so would you say 18" should be maximum ? and apart from amg's any suggestions for the CLK W209.

I think they'd spoil the ride of your car, personally. What condition are your current wheels like?

I always thinks cars look best kept standard, if the wheels are a bit tatty, get them refub'd, can make a heck of a difference. Big wheels can overpower the looks of a car, in a bad way.

Just my honest opinion!:)

Ok question if I had the original 16" alloys on mine refurbed would it be a better longer lasting finish then what was on there, it's just that I know the wheels were manufactured in Poland and I just take it that there crap quality materials.

Not an expert on original Mercedes wheels. But if you had them proffesionally refurbished, and kept them clean (and don't kerb them) you should be fine. Also, use an alloy sealant like the Poorboys products, easy to use and very effective. It protects and the brake dust is easier to clean off (due to protective barrier)

Yes mate as soon as I got the car I had every wheel off and got probably five years of brake dust off the rear and that's when I discovered the country of manufacture. Waxed and sealed after and it was poorboys stuff I used thanks. I do know a bit about car detailing and clay barred the body work and look after it well it's always garaged and I've been lucky not to meet a kerb for many years now.

Nope,,not genuine on 3 counts,, the genuine ones have AMG on the face in the bottom of one of the V's and the real ones are multi piece, also the outer rim is much wider that the real ones

Hi Pete,
I have to say they look quite a bit better than the original ones..
They are actually known as 16" Mercedes Algieba.
They are one of the suggestions that Malcolm originally made when I asked advice on replacing my "tired and curbed alloys"..
I suppose I should get round to updating the avatar photo..
Oh just had an idea.. I can update my album..
Look forwards to seeing you again at a GTG soon.

S.
