Hello

The heater fan motor has stopped working on my 2001 E320 CDi. I've checked the fuses and they are ok but from other posts on this site I can see that there are some associated resistors that might be the cause of the problem? I'm not sure where these are located - can anyone shed any light on that? Also any clues as to cost - Sub 50 pounds or more and is it worth trying to source one from a breakers such as Dronsfields?

All advice gratefully received.

When the regulator fails the fan will often just run on the minimum speed and this can be hard to detect.

The carbon brushes can stick or even wear out, so best to drop the motor out and connect to a 12v battery direct, if the brushes are sticking, then get a can of lighter fuel from Tesco or other and squirt some in each brush holder lifting the brushes as you do it and the will free off.

So if the motor runs just fine but still does not work in the car the reg pack must be changed.

You can buy them from Ebay much cheaper than anywhere else.

If you would like the info sheet on dropping the motor etc the just ask
