Sounds like one of the axle sensors has gone out of spec.

Have you had any service work on the suspension?

There are sensors on the front and rear ARBs that control the auto-leveling

P.S. Welcome to the forum! :)

It might just be out of adjustment, they are very sensitive to positioning. Took a good 30min to get my front sensor adjusted correctly..

Can only be done using STAR. One needs to set the zero point with the car set level.

This will not be an adjustment fault,,the operating arms can come off or one has failed electrically,,at a push the fault my be in the lamp control box,,but doubtful

This is quite common on the Alfas. The sensor arm bracket rusts and snaps leaving you with lights too high or low. To confuse things it is also intermittent at first as the 2 sides of the bracket catch on each other so the position changes randomly as it is free moving with no 'home' position!

If that is the case I fixed the Alfa's bracket using a similar shaped L bracket and adjusted on a flat surface until the lights looked right on a close wall before tightening off - I got the reference point from another car pointed at the same wall. Saved buying a new sensor and/or getting it re-calibrated (although the Alfa sensor seemed to be little more than a linear pot so may not have required any calibration)
