I have sent you 3 papers,,, it will be just a matter of removing the front rail, applying a sealant and screwing up to get the correct measurements

Hello :)
I stumbled upon this thread while looking for a solution to my leaking hardtop. Water comes in between the rubber seal on the hardtop and the front window and then runs to both sides and to the rubber seal that the side window presses against when it is closed.
Anyone got a solution for me? I have tried refitting the rubber seal on the hardtop but it didnt solve the problem. Is there a way to press the hardtop more down+maybe vaseline to avoid the water.

Could anyone that have the manual for the SL send it to my email: hotmail_edg@hotmail.com
I havent driven with the softtop in rain but have tried spraying water on it and it doesnt leak much. But it would be nice to have the manual just in case :)
Thanks in advance for the help :)

All you have to do is to take out the screw on the front rail, apply a new bead of sealant and just tighten the screws so that the roof closes.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have tried to remove the metal rail underneath the front of the hardtop to adjust the rubber seal with no luck.
The front rail you mention, where is it located? On the hardtop or on top of the window frame?

I have sent you the work sheet on how to do this, you never touch the car or you will have problems with the soft top

Thank you for info
Mine is leaking around A pillar and upon further reading on the thread I see there maybe additional info on adjusting the roof?
This is second hard top for this vehicle. The original has a crack in the rear glass and it was cheaper to replace top than to replace the glass ( keeping original for parts)
Can you please send this adjustment info, if available.
Thank you again,
Mark

Thanks for the info.

The front strip on the hard top should be unscrewed, clean off the old mastic and new should be applied, you only tighten up the screws enough for the roof to be closed, htis was a common fault some years back,, I still have the instructions that I can send you
Hey Malcolm.
Would you mind emailing me the instructions too? Much obliged.. cheers UM

Malcolm - does the adjustment guide cover the window seals - mine doesnt leak but the drivers side window seems to have more air rush noise than is becoming of a merc.
