On a canister oil filter, does the job but knackers the oil filter. No good on Merc plastic cap oil filters.

Have a look at the reviews and decide yourself
The one i sent fits over the filter top perfectly but according to the reviews, it will only last a couple uses, whereas the one you posted has to be tightened over the filter.
You can choose either, they will both work.

The Laser one is 76mm. on my Merc W204, I think it's 74mm.

Could be wrong.

That is by no means a universal oil filter removal tool.
With oil filters that have a removable outer case with a large nut on the top, the three jaws do not have enough depth to grip the case, because the nut gets in the way.
My favourite tool is made from a strip of safety belt fixed in a loop to one end of a large box spanner. Turn the spanner to grip the filter. Works well.
