I say send it back for a refund, you have some good info here now from the other guys. The chances are that the one that you received was from a car scrapped for the some reason as yours.

The Ignition module I think sits on the drivers side front wheel arch and theres a connector from the to the distributor. You will see I think 2 plugin connectors on the module.
