Hi all,

Posting on behalf of a friend, who has a C180 Kompressor 2003/4 automatic. Recently one sidelight bulb went out. The dash didn't show any bulb out. The bulb was replaced to no avail.

The car was taken to a Mercedes familiar auto spark, who has concluded the car needs a new CPU/ECU at approximately £300.

I know if this was my car I'd be tapping in a wire to the working sidelight or wiring in a new relay! However, with the intention of trading the C180 in soon, it is the owners desire to keep it factory condition.

Is this a reality of over engineering? Is this a chancer? Any workarounds? And finally is this the sign of more electrical problems to come?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi There

Sounds like your garage is suggesting your friend replaces his front sam unit.
Just replaced my rear sam £199 for the unit and £50 odd to code to car.

Get a 2nd opinion jut in case.
