My Dads accountant had a 2.3 16v when they 1st came out , It ended up snapping a chain, the later 2.5's were duplex linked i believe.

I've never a had a Cosworth 190, i've and 2 w201's altoghther 2.0 carb, a 2.6 I6 which went like the wind (for its day)

Awesome car, even more so in this day and age! I tried so hard to find one in the day when they were around £5k but, everyone I saw was running a bit rough to risk my money on so ended up with a 1990 E30 325i Sport.

Worth every penny in my opinion especially the 2.5-16 and Evo models.

Wouldn't be surprised to see it get to the 40s

Depends on how much someone is willing to pay for their youth capturing car. I think it will fetch around £30/31K.

What a gorgeous, interesting car. I'd love it.
I had a diesel 190 when they first appeared and although it was a solid car in the old MB tradition, it was slower than a sleeping snail.

Malta is known for keeping the rust away (24 years of that car's life were spent there), but what is less well known is that Maltese cars eat gearboxes, clutches, brake and suspension parts. The traffic is horrendous, stop-start, with mad spurts in between the frequent junctions and snarl-ups, and few places where top gear motoring can be enjoyed.

Those who can, regularly take their cars over to Sicily to blow the clag from the engine. No place for a diesel really, but fortunately dpf removal is a weekend pastime!

Been counters had their say? Pontons, Fintail and W108 had 2 row chains.

+1. The oldies always had various Mercedes during the late 70's through to the 90's and now only a few of us have them. Each one was something special with the 190 2.5-16 and 400E which I had the pleasure of driving in the USA being my favourites.

My family owned from new 07' CLS is not patch on the older Mercs or even my older Volvo's for quality.

Sold for £32,300. Quite a high price for one of these, we thought...
