Hello,

I recently removed my battery from my 1988 300 SEL on the advice of an automotive shop employee, as I was going away for 3 weeks. I now know that was a very stupid thing to do.

After re-attaching the battery, the electrics are working, the car will turn over (but not fire up up), and the hazard lights flash. I'm pretty sure this is a problem with the immobilizer.

Am I right in thinking that in the absence of a trickle feed, the immobilizer has reset or done something weird? If so, would anyone be able to suggest a work-around?

Thanks,
Shane

No, mine doesn't have remote locking/key, just a standard immoblizer fob for when starting the car.

I should add the batteries seem fine on both fobs, and light up as normal.

Thank you very much for your reply.

I've done some digging and realised it was an after-market immobilizer, the Autowatch N4086, and am looking for a re-sync code for this model.

I have never heard of that one,, so something used in your country only perhaps, if the worst comes to the worst you can remove it.

After digging around I got the 5 digit override code, and followed the directions to successfully override the immobliser, at least according to the manual, which I found here.

However, the car is still flashing her hazard lights and refuses to start. The engine is turning over perfectly, and everything was in good condition before I parked her for about 2 1/2 weeks.

Will keep trying on though.

I would remove the immobiliser and return it to as it was when it left the factory
