hi,im new to this .got a transmission problem.When i put my foot down to overtake it takes a while for the kickdown to work and the gears clunk into gear it also revs well above 3500 to 5000 rpm before it changes can anyone give me some clues as to whats the problem.Trans fluid is clear no smell of burning when its cruising its ok nice and smooth.I have read that you can adust the kick down but got no idea how.Its fuel injection and not carb .Can you lot help thanks

Is the atf level ok?

Check it while the engine and box are hot and running.

it might be worth changing the filter in the tray and the atf fluid too it would be the first thing i would do

ATF level is nothing to do with this problem.

It's a thing that is peculiar to Mercs and I've read about it elsewhere. Look into all the things on the kickdown circuit eg kickdown sensor etc. I get a delay on kickdown and so do other people.
