i have just bought a e300te estate 1991 h reg when i turn the lights on i have no dash lights or auto lights any ideas

turn up the dimmer.
twiddle the mileometer reset knob.
If that doesn't work there are some more complex solutions but it's normally that.

i cannot find a dimmer switch all i have is the headlight adjuster the dash does not light up and the auto select does not either

The dimmer is well hidden isnt it!
You know the mileometer reset knob on the dash?
You press it to reset the mileometer. What is less obvious is that you turn it for the dimmer!

found it it was turned right down, turned it up guess what no dash lights still whats next
