1998 C250 diesel - key won’t turn

Hello,

I have a 1998 C250 diesel. I am unable to start it - the key will not turn in the barrel.

The central locking is working fine on the remote.

The steering wheel lock is completely off.

The battery appears to be fully charged.

Can anybody tell me what my problem is likely to be?

When did you last change the key batteries?

Have tried changing the key batteries, but has made no difference

Has the key been dropped (and if you shake it does it rattle)?

Both keys that I have for it are fine, and do not rattle.

If your key uses infra red, you could try cleaning the lens on the tip of the key, and also the receiver lens where you plug the key in.

Does it start using the spare key?
