OK Matthew, I tracked it down, so don't need the VIN, and here are the results :-
Quote:
Yes, this vehicle uses the MB 722.xx transmission. This fluid meets the latest MB spec 236.14 and is backwards compatible to the earlier spec 236.12 & 236.10 for this transmission.
And for the antifreeze, see attachment.
Hope that it all works out for you.
Regards Jim2.:D
Very very good of you, thanks!!! So 6kg is 6 liters?

So I it doesn't matter if I mix a bit of the old with the new by the sound of it? It seems unlikely it's all going to be flushed out I must say. Sorry I didn't get back with the VIN, I was still at work, WDB211 0702A069006

I use autodoc in Germany for all my stuff. App available for phone! You get to select your make / model and from then on it makes all recommendations based on that.
Prices are very competitive, delivery is quick, and for a small 'insurance' about £4 they gaurantee buy back and exchange of anything they supply.
Parts, fluids, filters, service kits.
I tend to use LiquiMoly fluids - personal preference is all.

So could I use this, and add this

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183451193670

For good measure to ensure a good flush?

Personally, Matthew, I would not be in favour of mixing them. I'd buy another 6 Litres ( and yes, its Litres ) of the MB ATF, or 12 Litres of the Fuchs. When I was changing the ATF in my 722.6 trans, I bought 12 lites in total. That's because do do a complete flush ( and in your case and under the circumstances, a full flush is what I'd recommend ) you will lose a few litres flushing out the old oil until the new oil appears. And when that happens..its a 100% flush..none of the old oil remains. If you wish, you could split up the order, (1) Gasket, Filter and Sump bolts ( they are single use bolts ) and (2) ATF. Read Wighty's post on what he paid for the parts for his change, or in the post above, robin.large gives the details of a good parts supplier in Germany, I've used them myself and they are OK. Good Luck with it.
BTW, I've decoded the VIN..and thats some spec of a car you have there !!! I've tried sending it to via PM, but so far, not too successful. I'll keep trying anyway.

I use Autodoc too, the only thing is they don't seem to have much of a range for the e500. They have loads for my e320 cdi, (both w211) which is odd given much of it's the same.

early cars get a drain bung on the torque converter and that gets another 2 litres out. Another 1 litre hides in the cooler (check your rad, early ones with the cooler in the rad may fail and kill the gearbox...)

Only pure water with is specific gravity of one, means 1kg = 1 litre. Petrol is about 0.7kg a litre, there's a clue when you see oil slicks floating !

the best method it to change the fluid go for a 20 mile drive, drain and then do fluid and filter change (double flush gets all the gunk out)

I'm doing the rad at the same time, there's no glycol symptoms, but best safe than sorry.

(GSF, who's actually paying those prices???)

I've just finished ordering my parts from Grangemouth Mercedes. 5L 5w/40 fully syn was £21 Their Air filters undercut the Mann equivalent too. V impressed. Took ages because I kept adding to the order, they're very patient.

That's good value all right. How many litres did you order? The OM651 engine in mine take 6.5 ltrs including filter change.
