2003 S500 Boot won't close flush

Hi All,

Newbie here. I've done a search but haven't found any posts with the specific problem i'm seeing.

I have a 2003 S500 and when i press the soft close button on the boot the boot closes flush but THEN I hear the motor continue to whirr and the back of the boot lid (by the pivot point) on the drivers side lifts up from the flush position and then drops back slightly but still noticeably not flush.

It started happening occasionally but now it's got worse and happens almost every time I close the boot now.

Any ideas? Is this something that can be adjusted or is a component busted?

I have sent the paper on this, but do check the striking plate attached to the rear of the boot, these can bend and get out of line. There are post here on this problem if you do a search
