2003 SL 500 Sat nav cd

I'm getting a message on sat nav that my cd rom isn't working correctly. Is there a cost effective solution?

Is the message "no CD" or that it cannot read the disc, if so it needs a new pick up head. There is one firm offering to fit a new one for £235, or I can do it for £165 plus postage.

Thanks Malcolm. I need to check what the message says. The system works fine then the message comes up occasionally.
