Hi All,

I am a complete newbie to Classic Mercs (or any Merc for that matter!) and would like to buy a late '86 to '89 SL (type 107) for some sunny weekend use, and would value some advice as to the most desireable model to go for.

I'll probably set the budget at around £15K, and am hoping to find a good condition model that I can bring into / keep in pristine condition.

I personally like the midnight blue colour with a cream leather interior, but am open to recommendations.

Which is the most desireable engine size? At what mileage do they start running into problems? Any optional extras that are a 'must'?

Any advice on buying an '86 to '89 SL would be very much appreciated.

Regards to all

Steve

but then I would say that, wouldn't I.

The trouble can start anytime, if its been neglected, but about every 75k for timing chain tensioners, about 100k for transmission seals, and that's about your lot.
The engines are bullet-proof and sweet as a nut.
Do a quick search here on 107, or SL and see what we've all been complianing about
