Oh, one other thing to pack - a pair of gloves of some sort to keep your hands clean. Doesn't matter what, rubber faced ones are good for grip in the wet, but thin, cheap latex/rubber gloves may perish over time with the extreme temperatures that car boots experience during the year.

One of the problems when I go to look on ebay for a wheel changing kit Is that specific models are listed - for instance here's one:
W203 W209 Mercedes Tool Kit - Jack - Bolts - Tow hook - Wheel Brace And More

But I very much doubt anything is made for a W247 these days!! So what should I try to find?!

Or should I not bother as I'm really inclined simply to have the complete spare wheel in the car and wait for recovery to arrive with all their own gear.

You have 4 jacking points on the car so a flat pad lifting arm scissor jack will do the job if you buy one of these adaptors. The Jack you’ve highlighted might do the job the adapter is already built into the scissor Jack from what I can see
