I bought a 1991 300 SL w/ 153,000 miles that the previous owner had stopped driving several months ago (we live in Tucson, AZ) because the A/C quit. This car has a sticker indicating that it was converted to 134A some time ago. I am going to have the dye injected to pinpoint the source of the leak or failure but I would appreciate input from others who have experienced A/C failures in these cars as to the likely source of the failure/leak. Thanks in advance.

Condenser or compressor are the usual culprits.

Thanks. We'll see when we get into it.

Mine was temp sensor just behind the right hand .headlight looking from from front of car and same car by the way.
If you bridge the contacts on the sensor/switch it worked.
Replaced and works fine cost £60 for OEM part.
