AMG coupe c class 2003

Hi I'm buying my first mercedes and in quite a low budget. I'm looking at a AMG c class coupe diesel 2003 and pick it up next week. What's the difference in an AMG and the standard 220d?

Suspension, wheels and front grille iirc on that model - no difference on engine or mechanicals

Thanks for that. Is the bph the same? I noticed the c200 and c220 have different bph but the same size engine. What bhp would the AMG be?

Is this a CLK hardtop? If so it’s a 2.2 litre 4pot diesel. I wasn’t aware that AMG was a trim level back in 2003. Either way, the difference between 200 and 220 is the state of tune of the engine and possibly the turbocharger fitted.

Is it worth getting remapped? Entirely upto you. You’ll notice the difference if you do.

Your car is a CLC, dependent on the year also known as C Class coupe. It isn’t an “AMG coupe” which doesn’t exist.

The numbers refer to the first three numbers of the VIN.

Correct by Craig- I had the 2006 variant of that same car but C180K petrol. It had ‘AMG bits’ like grille and lowered suspension and wheels but that’s all. Indeed it was before ‘AMG Line’ was around.
Mine was the evo which had full panoramic roof too.
These models were in fact before Mercedes designated them ‘CLC’- simply a C class Coupe

so have a good number of NON amg benz about due to re badge, i think understatement is often best,as in nothing on back of car.

The 220 has 143BHP and the 200 has somewhat less. The numbers after W203.XXX will tell you what it is. Go to this page and it list all the C Class variants....
