MB usually give me a (2 litre ?) C or E class as a loan car, when my SL is in for service/MOT. I did once have a B class, whatever that is. The thinking is that the customer will fall in love with the loan car, and want to buy one. The car is always spotless, and is returned spotless. I only drive it 8 miles or so, so I am the dream customer. I must say I am grateful to them, and it is one of the reasons I go there for service/MOT. There is no way I would ever get to drive the current generation of MB saloons, so it is a useful and interesting experience, over the years. I imagine soon, the loan cars will be electric ?

So for them, the loan car system is very much a sales/demonstrator system, the salesman always comes out afterwards to see what I thought of the car, and we have a chat about it. Now, if you loaned me an AMG GT, I will let you know.

An old B-Class.
I do remember putting several litres of petrol in Alex's S600 when he gave me that as a courtesy car. And I only did 23 miles in it...
So you probably shortchanged him in a S600. :);) I imagine those cars do gallons/mile.
