I saw some footage from a car cam - one of the old rally boys Mark Higgins is trying to get similar laps to the bike - when you see the actual lines from a wider angle lens - they aren't as mad as it appears on TV - when I saw some of it I thought goodness he's not even trying yet .....

jump 2 mins in

for example from 2 mins 40 seconds and 4min 45 seconds - come on you go round your local back roads twice as hard as that

as I get older I used to think maybe you have to try to do a 100mph lap - but now seeing the bends from a camera that shows the actual bends - I think if you can't do 110 mph lap on a GS with road tyres you shouldn't be on a bike

in case you think I've lost the plot - how's this for an utter lack of talent and he's the fastest in a car ...

here you go - how easy it really is

Autoglyms finest fairy liquid…;)
What i do with the bugs before a wash is lay wet kitchen towel over the fairings and screen and let it sit for 10 and the bugs just wipe off.

I spray foam fabric cleaner on, and then wipe off with a micro fibre cloth. That usually removes all bugs easily, it also gets any dirt off of the screen and fairing too.

no one going to bite on the TT - when seen from an angle where u see the bends aren't as scary as they seem on Bike TV footage? if he can do 140mph and straight line much of the course with little effort, I suspect I could get anyone with reasonable biking experience to do a 100 mph lap on a modern 600 - and if they can't - they shouldn't go on public roads - as its way too dangerous out there with what's left of our bomb cratered gravel patches

Forty-two years of honing to perfection, LOL
The AMG isn't mine but looks quite nice

based on what I think I can see from this non ideal picture.... I suspect we have an opportunity for more ground clearance and faster steering - either spin around and or remove spindle and swap the eccentric adjusters side to side and get the spindle 25 mm lower - aka back of the bike higher

Renault AMG anyone?
Renault made some very nice engines in the ‘80’s… Alan Jones used to do quite well with one…:)

Thanks for your suggestion but there is no ground clearance problem - it quite easily straddles even the Dutch Drimples without grounding anything :)

The handling was set up during a very pleasant afternoon at Cadwell Park and the excentrics were moved to slow down the steering. Chain tension is taken care of with a spring-loaded sprocket arm just hidden behind the foot peg plate, so no need to remove them for that.

A couple of the uploadable pics from last weekends trip to Spean Bridge on the A86, (just past Fort William). The weather was fantastic, as were the roads, a great trip all round.
We started off at Tim Hortons at the Phoenix Centre Paisley (convenient meeting place for the bulk of the group), and then over to Dumbarton to meet Ian.
Quick stop and fill up for those who hadn't already, then off up the A82 towards Loch Lomond, by passing that and head for "The Green Welly" for our first break before tackling the fastest part of the trip, and to my mind the most scenic, through Glencoe. Sadly no pics as everyone seemed to be in a hurry to get somewhere, lol, either that or, the roads were just so good we all pressed on.
First pic is the famous "Green Welly" on the A82, second is Muggins in the car park of the "Welly" sadly the other pics files are too big and won't load, third is a view of Ben Nevis from the lounge of our B&B in the Coire Glass in Spean Bridge, run by our host Simon, nice bloke and very helpful chap. He even had wooden blocks for everyone for under our side stands for all the bikes. The car/bike park was gravel all the way and the blocks were needed to stop the bikes falling over. As I said helpful chap.
A great time was had by all, Me, Del, Mark, the other Jim, Ian (aka Budgie), and Del's father in law who's name escapes me at the moment (just met him), all great guys, banter, booze and fun was had in equal measures. :D:D:D
