I'm just posting this in case it helps clarify the position for others buying an high mileage (over 100,000 mile) Approved Used Merc. This is the reply I have received from the warranty administrator:

"I have raised your query regarding that your vehicle has done over 100,000 miles with our Claims Team and they have confirmed the following.

You will be covered under warranty still but these items will be excluded. Wheel Bearings, Shock Absorbers, Suspension Bearings, Ball Joints, Steering Racks, Steering Pumps, Drive Shafts, Coolant Pumps, Starter Motors and Alternators.

I hope this clears it up for you. I have read the booklet and agree with you that this is not at all clear so I apologise for this."

I would have hoped the exclusion were explained pre sale personally......as if I was buying approved used I would except av warranty to cover a car in the usual manner for the normally prescribed period.

If this was not explained I would have a problem....

Technically not correct, these items remain covered against "sudden mechanical or electrical failure" but the wear and tear clause expires at 100,000 miles. Not unreasonable really. Mileage whilst on cover is unlimited for all other benefits
