My car is going in for warranty work tomorrow, it is merc approved used warranty as my car is now 4. I'm wondering as the car has now decided its due a service (21 days now, down from 8000 miles two weeks ago) will they make me get the car serviced with them while the warranty work is being carried out? I'm thinking yes they will or will probably tell me they won't be carrying out any warranty work as the car not getting serviced with them! Any ideas?

Very wise to be paranoid, but they really can't reasonably link the two, and compel you to have the service there.

On the other hand, if they are extending good will, they might be looking for some in return.

Sounds a good opportunity to explore what discount they will give for being allowed to service a 4 year old car?

I'd get the warranty work done. but tell them you'll bring the car back when the service is due (it doesn't need it doing before - in fact there is a 1k/1month leeway either way) . Rebook it in by all means if you like their price, you can always cancel nearer the time if you find a better deal from an indy.

And why not:cool: just hope you do not need some goodwill in the future if you do cancel and go elsewhere though because they may just tell you politely to go and have sexual intercourse with yourself:rolleyes:
