Having Auto Gearbox oil changed on Friday (C220 CDi Tip).
At Mercedes Direct in Walsall. Didn't think their price was too bad at £150 to include VAT, Oil and filter and check on harness seal for leakage. Main Dealer wanted £220.
Most indies seem to quote £110-£140 plus VAT.
car has done 68kmiles and I found no evidence of it being changed at the recommended 37.5K so I thought it best to get it done.
Gearbox operates as smooth as silk at the mo so I'm not expecting to notice any difference but you never know!

Also having car starred so I can get a readout of the DPF condition for £25. Will results post if it raises any queries or if anyones interested.

PS is it worth getting that harness seal changed as a matter of course or leave well alone if it looks ok?

Is it worthwhile getting a jar of the old oil to examine/keep for future ref?

Cheers....

So hard to say on the seal,, there are so many things that one could change just in case,,saying that it is a piggy job to sort out if it does leak

Thanks television. Do you mean a big or a pig of a job if it leaks?
Is it quick and easy to do while the oil and filter's being changed?
I'm afraid I haven't a clue what it looks like in that area -only read on these forums of the ECU problems if it leaks.
Thanks.

I mean a piggy job if it leaks as the wiring passes up through the bulk head into the car and it is very labour intensive if it has to be changed so in a way yes both ways :D:D

Thanks for the tip Richard and Malcolm.
I take it you've both used Mercland then and been happy with the service you received.
Is there anything in particular that makes them recommendable? I'm looking for an independent to do any future service work I may need. Mercland are on the doorstep so that's great if it's a top indy.

I confess I haven't used him myself, but he comes highly recommended on this forum. He also posts on here.
