Autobox problem, comes and goes

Hi,

My 99 220 cdi is acting strange now and then and not every day, sometimes several times a day. It works like my old computer with windows 98. When things get bad I just do a shutdown and restart.

During driving the autobox is stuck in 2. or 3. gear. The only way to clear this error is to reboot the car. I have ordered some garage time, but I'm wondering what I can expect to hear from the MB people. The log says 160.000 km and I wonder if it is the kind of problem you would expect at this length?

sounds like the box is going into emergency mode. this could be for many reasons but there will be a stored fault if this is the case

check oil level as this is the cause of most auto faults
