Teflon only comes in Black....and any polish looks good on a black car:rolleyes:

And just think how hot they get Steve, while we sit in our cool silver cars

nice car

Hello mate,

That is one beautiful car indeed. The polish really makes a difference.

If this was my car, I would put AMG III alloys on it.

The car will be transformed.;)

No AMG alloys for me, I'm more of a cruiser than a racer these days and prefer a little comfort when I travel along.

If it had been neglected in the past, no matter what you used, it will not make any different.

I preferred Turtle Magic than AutoG. You see the result after the first wash.
Not worth the extra cash for the AutoG.

Just came across your posts on polish, my SL R129 is in Azurite Blue. I must confess to never having a problem with Turtle Wax, and I've just given the SL a good seeing too with the metallic product. I've even used the non-metallic one on my metallic cars (the majority have been) and I've found the stuff brill (excuse the pun). No doubt there are technical reasons of a chemical/polymer/wax/abrasive nature with regard to the differences between the standard product (in their green bottle) and the metallic (in the blue bottle) but to be honest, once the job's done I cannot tell the difference, and it's easy to use. I finished the job yesterday and the car looks like glass - thought I'd share that with you.

By the way, I consider Turtle Magic to be when you tuck yer car in the garage filthy dirty one night and when you drive it out the next day it's concours, now that's magic!!

D ;)

The metallic thing is a joke as no car is finished with a metallic top coat since the 70's

At the end of the day as long as you are happy with whatever polish or wax or whatever you put on your paintwork then nothing else matters

Rubbish. A dull swirly finish can be polished to perfection given enough effort or the correct tools.

Went out to give the car a wash and ended up playing with the water instead. I thought i would see how the beading is with the new wax.

Now washed and dried ready to go into the garage.

Drying took me a record breaking total of 4 minutes without using a towel.

This is what I dry the vehicles with
P1030980.jpg

The down side of using the air blower is that it requires aroung 15qfm of air which means a powerful compressor is required

This is a Hydrovane compressor with an output of 26qfm which easily supplies more than enough air to dry the car

Does anyone have any advice about Diamond Glaze protective coating? A local guy wants to apply it to my car for "the absolute bargain" price of £100. He assures me it will protect the paintwork and will make washing and polishing incredibly easy. My cousin had it on her Ford Focus from new and I must say after 7 years the paintwork looks very good and she hardly ever washed it and never waxed or polished it. Is there any risk of it reacting with the (metallic) paint? My E320 is 1995.

Thanks, David

I have a battery operated leaf blower that I sometimes use but it's no where as powerful as the compressor ;)

Nobody tried or tempted by Diamond Glaze application? Am I going to make a big mistake tomorrow?

Someone must know something about it?

Cheers

I have had it done before and was not happy with it --if you are the kind of person who likes cleaning polishing and looking after your car its not the thing to do.
