Hi

I have a W211 and was installing the jack lead to the CD head unit to allow me to play music via ipods and one of the small black screws from the unit fell into the gearstick area.

I have tried to get it out but with no joy. It’s just at time the gearstick can get stuck as the screw is moving about at the bottom of the unit and lodging into places.

Has anyone ever done this? If so how did the retrieve the screw? If not any advice as to how to retrieve the screw?

Thanks

Vacuum cleaner? You might have to reduce the end a bit though!"

Move the car so that it facing uphill so that it can roll back, the vacuum could well pick it up, if you can see it a magnet on the blade of a screw drive may pick it up.

negative on the sensor I'm afraid, get a small tube , tape it to the vacuum cleaner, you may have to leave a route for excess vacuum, that should work.
