Automatic Transmission Problem W208

I have a CLK 230 W208 [chassis no: WBD2083482F185580] and shifting gears became harsh like as if there were "free play" resulting in jerks and "cog" sounds....I had it overhauled and replaced the Valve Body with a new unit. Despite this I still experienced the 'cog' sound when shifting from 3rd to the 4th at low speed i.e. about 55 kmph and at about 1500 revolution. What shall I look for? TQ.

Very hard to offer any solid advice based on your description. Maybe it isnt your gearbox?

Front prop shaft coupling maybe? Could you elaborate on the cog sound?
