Hi all, had to remove the drivers seat on my '99 ML320 as the seat height mechanism was seized. In the process of doing this, I had to disconnect the electrical plug underneath the seat - as a precaution, I also disconnected the battery. However, now that its all back together, I have the BAS/ESP light on. Is this problem connected to the electrical plug under the seat or just co-incidence?

Start the car and turn the steering from lock to lock a few times. With a bit of luck it may put the light out for you.

Just out of curiosity what causes this to happen when only the seat was removed?

Battery was disconnected so the steering angle sensor needs normalizing.

Thank you everyone - a perfect example of what a forum is all about!

Moving the steering from lock to lock did the trick. I've been seeing pound signs before my eyes for the last day or so...again.

Thanks again.
