Hi all

My rad sprung quite a bad leak today on the way back from a car show. (W124 300 TE 1990). Just had a quick look on eBay-£300....

Does anyone know of a cheaper source as this sounds VERY expensive to me-or am I better off getting it recored?

Thanks.

Ordered one today and need to get it fitted ASAP. Are there any particular pitfalls in a rad change on a W124 I should be aware of?
Thanks.

Rads for cars with a/c are different to those without. The gearbox cooler pipes can be difficult to undo. Other than that it should be straightforward

Interesting. The firm I ordered mine from (As recommended earlier in the thread) list the same part for non-AC as AC.....

Well, what an experience! I cannot recommend that supplier I bought from. This is why:
Ordered what was indicated to be the right rad for my car. It arrived quickly, but was the wrong size-although everything was in the right place, it was far too big-then I noticed that the part number was wrong.

Contacted the company to explain, giving all my car details again to be sure. They apologised, agreed it was the wrong part and sent another, with the old one being collected at the same time. New one arrives-I unpack it to discover that although the part number is now right, it is exactly the same as the one I sent back!!

Contacted them again. They insisted that I had ordered the wrong part (The website page had since been removed, so I couldnt check, but besides which, I gave them all my details again!) They said that it was the right part for my car (It isnt) and implied that the car is modified (It isnt) and that they cannot get another type. To get a refund, I had to return the rad at my own expense (£13.50)

A Paypal refund arrived the day after-less £20.00 because it was apparently all my fault!

So I am £33.50 out of pocket, still don't have a radiator and spent three days waiting in for couriers! Not happy.....

Just to clarify, I'm talking about Autokool in Chesterfield. I would certainly NEVER use them again.

That's what I would have paid, but it certainly sounds like their service has gone downhill since then.......
