Boot lid sensor.

Hi, Waving my foot about under the rear bumper rarely opens the boot lid, more often than not I have to put my shopping or whatever down and get the keys out or just pull the handle. Is there anything I can do to improve the situation ? cheers...Car is Diesel C Class C220 Automatic W205.

After many attempts with my XC90 I discovered that one firm wiggle of the foot and step back does it consistently
Waving side to side continually just seemed to confuse it!

I have just discovered I can "close" the boot lid by kicking my foot under the bumper..
