I was cleaning out my attic and cam across an alternator, Bosch model number AL72X. It seems to put out voltage when spun. Can anyone identify what car this comes from?
The alternator you found in your attic fits early 350 and 450 Mercedes. The MB part No. is 003 154 58 02 and sells for about £60. It may fit other models, but I don't know which ones. You can check this number with your MB dealer to see what other models it may fit.
I want to know how you spun the alternator and at what speed? If you spin them fast and with no load they will fail pretty quickly. You need to conect a heafty resistor across them to be safe
