Have you checked / changed the remote battery?
Do you have another remote/key and does that give the same problem?
Access with the key will trigger the alarm. I believe it is supposed to silence when you put the key in the ignition. Sounds a lot like a duff key/remote.

I can't say I kn ow exactly how the key works, except it seems to have an inductive element, an IR element and a radio bit. The IR and radio work the locking - (have you tried pointing the key at the door handle or interior mirror?) and the induction does the ignition. It's possible that the key aspect is also charged from the barrel I suppose, so it might work and I guess if it's not been used for a while it could go flat. I can't see why this would affect the rest of the key though, except that without the inductive comms, it may be out of sync. All guesswork but give it a go, you just need a locked garage to park it in overnight!

Thank you jberks.I had left the key in the ignition for the last four to five hours and now the key turns and the car has started.so it is the remote which needs a battery replacement because its not recharging after i take the key out of the ignition and not the whole key replacement as the dealers had told me,i think they were after a few quick bucks.i'll see in the next few days what happen if anything. cheers..
