Hi all,

As stated on another thread I purchased the above at a cheap price. There were quote a few rust spots on the car when I bought it, and it seems pretty common looking at similar models of that age. Rightly or wrongly I took advice from Halfords/Youtube.

I treated the rust with Hammerite and then used the touch up pens from Halfords. For the most part it looks better but the issue I have is that the paint touch up looks a different colour to the rest of the bodywork. Halfords were pretty useless in giving me any further advice after selling me the touch up kit so I'm pretty annoyed about that. Does anyone have advice from similar issues?

Many thanks

Mark.

Was it the correct paint code code silver? There is more than one.
The finish from a touch up pen/brush will never be too good on anything but tiny spots.

On a cheap car, where you don’t want to start cutting & welding in new metal...

Sand off all corrosion, rust converter, fill, sand smooth, prime, base coat, laquer.

I've got the correct code from the inside of the door.
Yeah, I've followed the steps you've given. Maybe it's as good as it will be. Thankyou

I've read somewhere that silver is the worst colour to match.

Silver is difficult to match. Beyond that you could get a quote from a body shop or chipsaway to spray it. But it's a cheap car, you could end up spending more than it's worth.
As soon as you start spending hundreds on repairs you may as well.put that towards a better car in the first place.

Did your touch up pen come with a lacquer pen to overcoat too? Makes a difference to the colour
