c180 won't start

my key unlocks the car fine all lights come on steering wheel unlocks fine but when turn to start nothing happens this has just happened out of the blue can anyone help had a new starter motor fitted still nothing I only have the one key and wouldn't unlock car other day but started fine and started working again and few days later it unlocks but won't start please help!!!! Thanks

Your EIS (ignition switch), or Key has probably failed, but best to get it plugged into STAR diagonstics to find out.

Try checking all fuzes (engine compartment drivers side)

The mechanic said he tried plugging his computer into it but nothing happened I think it is my key how would I find out it's definitely the key before I shell out more

Find a new mechanic, would be my recommendation.

I also checked fuzes but only the ones relating to the starter motor and ignition I think it's 52 57 ??
