My dad is planning to buy C180d from 2020. Does anybody have this model? Would you recommend it as daily car? My dad makes about 10k km per year, and he drives most on short trips. This will be his first mercedes. What about reliability?

Absolutely. A 2020 diesel has so much technology cleaning up the emissions that they need to be driven a lot to avoid costly problems. That sort of journey profile should 100% be petrol.
