Hello forum!
(It's my 1st time ... be gentle with me!)
My much loved c-class is losing coolant, local garage has diagnosed the fault as the head gasket & is pricing up the job, but from discussions so far I'm expecting a bill of around £800. This includes them sending the head off for skimming, pressure testing & grinding the valves. Any comments / advice most welcome; guess my main concerns are :-
1) whether there's much of a risk that this won't fix the problem - if it's not the head gasket, it's something else? Any common problems?
2) whether it's advisable to replace anything else along the way eg timing chain or something?
The car is a c220 cdi sport special edition, it has done 125,000 miles & I bought it 8 years ago when it was 2 years old. I don't feel ready to part with it yet!
